Update: The Municipality of Budapest announced an international call for proposals for a memorial dedicated to the Memory of rape in wartimes in July 2021. By the deadline on October 15, 2021, altogether 36 Hungarian and international applications were submitted. The first round of evaluation will take place on November 2. Applicants shortlisted for round two shall produce a scale model, the winning artwork will be chosen by the jury early 2022. The planned date of inauguration of the work of public art is May 2023.
Update #2: Six artworks shortlisted for the second round of the international call for proposals announced by Municipality of Budapest
On November 2, an international jury shortlisted six works of art for round two for a memorial dedicated to the Memory of rape in wartimes, to be erected by the Municipality of Budapest. The final evaluation of the applications will take place in January 2022. According to the resolution of the General Assembly of Budapest, the winning artwork and two further prize-winning proposals will be made public in March 2020. The participants chosen for the second round shall present their works at a scale model exhibition in March 2022. The winner of round two will have a year to realize the work of art, its inauguration is scheduled for May 2023.
