Prior to the fall of the communist regime, Imre Varga was a favourite artist of the partly leadership and the cultural politics of the era. Between 1980 and 1990, he served as a member of parliament, he was vice president of the Patriotic People\u2019s Front and president of the Fe\u0301szek Artist\u2019s Club. This explains the fact how a showroom with his works could be opened already during his lifetime, in the 1980s.
