[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″ el_class=”full-2″][vc_single_image image=”8915″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”right”][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][vc_column_text]Painter Zdenko Huzjan was born in Prekmurje, a culturally and ethnically distinct region bordered by the River Mura and the R\u00e1ba Valley, in the town of Lendava, which became the administrative and cultural centre of the Hungarian national minority in the Republic of Slovenia after World War II. The manner in which Huzjan\u2019s art conveys its message was influenced by various factors, not least of which is his close tie to the region of Prekmurje, an aspect of his identity that he has never forgotten. His return to his home environment has undoubtedly played an important part in shaping Huzjan\u2019s artistic personality, and he himself has named two artists who influenced him when he was younger: the Hungarian painter of light, J\u00e1nos Tornyai, and the late Ludvik Vre\u010di\u010d, a fellow Slovenian who studied painting in Budapest and died before his time.<\/p>\n
The works of art exhibited here are only a part of the cycle of the past few years and only a fragment of Huzjan\u2019s extensive life work, which was created over the course of more than 40 years. According to the artist, he never paints \u201con a defined space within a gallery, but rather in cycles and related to a certain phenomenon, or else through a very personal perception of time. \u2026 Right now there is a lot of Silence in my paintings (\u2026) only rarely is there a scream representing the extreme form of our unspeakable anthropomorphic being. (\u2026) Man is conscious of the transient nature of his life that is why he has always surrounded himself with images, which \u2013 each in its own (and all in the same) way \u2013 explain the feeling of helplessness we experience when faced with our inevitable departure and the existential crisis that follows.
