* Please note that due to ongoing challenges in Slovakia’s cultural policy environment, adjustments may appear. We will ensure transparent communication throughout the application and jury process.
We kindly ask all applicants to contact the coordinator of the BHM Budapest Gallery artist exchange program at the following address if they require further information before submitting their application: hermann.julia@btm.hu
Application criteria:
Applications are invited from those who have won this competition no more than once and have travelled before 2023. Both the partner cities and Budapest expect applicants to be able to speak English or the language of the country in which they are applying at an appropriate level of competence in the job and in professional matters. Please declare your language skills responsibly on the registration form.
Winners are expected to submit a written professional report with photos after the trip abroad. Participants are asked to occasionally support the Budapest Gallery’s artist exchange programme, so that foreign artists coming to Budapest can get a better understanding of the capital’s art scene and future domestic applicants can get a more complete picture of the exchange programme.
How to apply:
Applications must be sent electronically to hermann.julia@btm.hu
A maximum of two places may be indicated in an application.
The subject of the message should be Művészcsere2026
Deadline: 31 October 2025 (Friday) 4 pm
The applications must include:
– a registration form and a consent form, which can be downloaded at the bottom of the page
– a CV and a portfolio together in a single PDF file
– and a motivation letter in Hungarian and English, of a maximum of 2-2 thousand characters, explaining the reasons for the location. (If two locations are specified, separate cover letters must be attached for each location.)
Applications will be judged by a professional jury invited by the Budapest Gallery.
The members of the jury for the 2026 artist exchange competition are Tamás Don, Flóra Gadó, Júlia Hermann, Lea Novák.
Applicants will be notified in writing of the receipt of their applications and of any need to supplement them.
Deadline for the evaluation of the competition: one-round applications: end of November, two-round applications: mid-December.
